Sports Day 2026: A Full Day of House Rivalry at Our Fedha Campus
There is a particular kind of energy that takes over a school in the week before Sports Day, and no timetable has ever managed to contain it. On Thursday, 30th July 2026, one of the biggest school events we look forward to returns to our playground — and parents are invited to be right there on the sideline.
Sports Day is a fixture on our calendar, held every year on the school playground. Last year it was Red House that came out on top, and they will be arriving on 30th July with a title to defend. Green, Blue and Yellow have had twelve months to think about it.
Four Houses, One Title — and a Champion to Beat
Every learner at Kings International Academy belongs to one of four houses — Red, Green, Blue or Yellow — and on Sports Day those colours mean everything. Points are earned across sprints, relays, field events and team games, with the day building towards the announcement of the overall house champions.
Younger learners from Daycare and Lower Primary take part in age-appropriate races and fun events, while Upper Primary and Junior Secondary learners compete in the more demanding track and field categories. Nobody sits this one out.

Sports Day has become one of the most anticipated school events each year. Every edition produces its own stories — a photo finish, an unexpected upset, a Grade 3 learner who discovers they can run. This is the archive of those days.
Why Sports Day Matters in a CBC School
The Competency-Based Curriculum asks schools to develop more than academic ability. Sport is one of the most direct ways we do that. On the field, learners practise communication, self-efficacy and citizenship in real time — encouraging a teammate who is falling behind, following the rules when nobody is watching, and shaking hands after losing a race by half a step.
Physical activity also supports concentration, sleep and emotional regulation, all of which show up later in the classroom. Sports Day is the loudest day of our calendar, but it is not a day off from learning.
A Note for Parents
Gates open at 7:30 AM and the first event starts promptly at 8:00 AM. Parking is available on campus. We recommend bringing a hat, sunscreen — the Nairobi sun is generous by mid-morning. Refreshments will be available on site.
Please ensure your child arrives in full house colours — and consider wearing them yourself. Parents are warmly encouraged to turn up in their child’s house colour, and the sideline is a good deal louder for it. If you are unsure which house your child belongs to, their class teacher will be happy to confirm.
